Chess Valley Striders' Christmas Lunch

on .

DSC 0460 compressedDue to heavy snowfall, the fundraising Christmas walk and lunch organised by Friends of the Belarusian Children’s Hospice for Chess Valley Striders almost did not happen! Called off the night before, we miraculously managed to reinstate it just one week later with our amazing cooks, trustee Jane and her husband David, cancelling meetings in London to accommodate us. With the snow cleared and access to the hall and car park sorted, 44 walkers set out for a bracing hike through the Chiltern countryside, eventually arriving at Damien Hall in Great Missenden with hearty appetites.

These are just some of the many appreciative comments received from the group afterwards,

Many, many thanks for giving us such a lovely afternoon today It was good fun and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was superb, the tables looked suitably festive and the entertainment par excellence!

You and the other trustees obviously went to a lot of trouble with all the preparation needed to make it such a successful event. A big pat on the back to you all.

Thank you so much for a lovely walk and lunch. The food was wonderful and the entertainment was great. It was a most enjoyable day, thank you.

The event raised £1825 which is funding Christmas and New Year parties for children of the Belarusian Children’s Hospice (BCH) in Minsk and also the Friends of BCH children’s physiotherapy project at BCH.
