Super Heroes

Untitled compressedMarina was interviewed by Belarusian TV during a visit to Forest Glade by Alexander Triput, the 2016 Belarusian Paralympic medal winner as part of the McHappy Day organised by McDonalds in Minsk. They have supported BCH for a number of years and funded the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at Forest Glade where parents can stay free of charge while their child is an in-patient.

Alexander was born with a visual impairment and won his first medal for javelin at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens where he also won silver in the pentathlon. In 2013, Alexander fractured his spine in an accident and, after surgery, progressed from being bedridden to a wheelchair. He was determined to return to top level athletics and after much hard training won the opportunity to represent Belarus in the 2016 Rio Games where he won a bronze medal in the javelin for wheelchair users. His visit to Forest Glade was a great success and an inspiration to hospice children and staff and Marina, who also uses a wheelchair, is a TV natural.  Watch the news item here.  The visuals are good and as well as seeing Marina and Alexander there is footage of the facilities at Forest Glade.
