Summer Respite Care Project
The Summer Respite Care Project is based in the countryside outside Minsk. It was started in 1999 with the purchase of a wooden house. Now it has expanded to seven buildings, including the latest and largest, Stork House. Hospice staff and volunteers take groups of children here for a holiday in the fresh air. Sometimes the ratio is one helper to one child. No illness or disability disbars a child from the right to a holiday here. No charge is made. It is the only project of its kind in Belarus.
