About Friends of the Belarussian Children's Hospice (UK)

Friends of the Belarussian Children's Hospice (UK) supports the Belarussian Children's Hospice, which is based in Minsk and was the first hospice in Belarus. Friends also supports the hospice movement in Belarus, initiated and led by staff and parents of the Belarussian Children's Hospice.

Friends of the Belarussian Children's Hospice (UK) was set up in 2006 to take over the work of a charity which had, since 1999, supported the work of the Belarussian Children's Hospice and had paid for all its buildings. Friends is a dedicated and focused supporter of the Belarussian Children's Hospice and its palliative care projects in Belarus.

All funds raised by us are used to support the work of the Belarussian Children's Hospice and the hospice movement in Belarus. Friends closely monitors the progress of the programmes it supports and ensures that the funds are used correctly and efficiently.

The chairwoman of Friends has thirty years' experience doing business and running charitable projects in Russia and the former Soviet Union and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Belarussian Children's Hospice. The Board meets annually to discuss strategy, management and budgets. This means that Friends of the Belarussian Children's Hospice (UK) has an input into all major decisions affecting the running of the Hospice and can closely monitor use of funds.
